See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

The final piece

image

Random the shapes are scattered about

Where to begin, how to figure it out

Trying your best to make it all fit

Frustrating at times, no intention to quit

Coming together and starting to see

What this beautiful story finally will be

Ever so close, but one spot is bare

Tried so hard to find, searched everywhere

Right in front of your eyes, it was there all the while

What you’ve been looking for, to bring out that smile

The journeys beginning but the search is completed

That very last piece was all that you needed

A friend

image

Too many leave and silently fade

Not the case here, such an impact he’s made

Jokes or a story ends with that contagious laugh

Biggest muscle his heart (maybe besides his calf)

Soft spoken at times, that chuckle, that grin

Inspired so many, nowhere to begin

On stage a mountain, off just a man

Mentoring all that he possibly can

Fortuned to nest under his wing

Changing my life by saying one thing

“I know you can do this” that’s all it took

So many others like me, you could write a book

Now rest my friend, we’ll take it from here

In our hearts always, year after year.

Less broken

image

Should I never have jumped, never have run,

would it have been that much safer

just not as much fun

Could have slouched in the bleachers, taken it slow,

maybe less broken, probably so

Like stamps on a passport, scars map where you’re from

pain a memento of things overcome

Hardware displayed at a physical cost,

for pushing your limits and boundaries you’ve crossed

Still you slide on a brace, and limp into war,

what doesn’t hurt, what isn’t sore?

Never regretting your new  status quo,

refusing to watch, but star in the show

Once

image

Gym bag in hand,  tank soaked with sweat

Riding the subway, our eyes somehow met

He seemed a bit lonely, frail and weak

Pulled out his wallet and started to speak

“I looked just like you” as he searched for a pic

“Been wilting and tired since my Angie got sick”

“Was a time I could bench over 400 pounds.

Now at the home, I circle the grounds”

“How did I get here?” crying inside

Despair on his face he just couldn’t hide

“Wonder what’s left, remaining in store,

friends underground, family no more”

He slowly arose, straightened his coat,

a final thought, after clearing his throat

“Worked out every day, arms were bigger than yours”

Then bowing his head, he limped for the doors

He turned back and glanced, and just for minute

His eyes recalling a life with a little sun in it

A slight smile appeared, I returned it to him

In that brief moment he was back in the gym

Waiting

image

Summoned inside, news isn’t good

Shouldn’t be long, last words if you could

Coralled in a horseshoe surrounding the bed

Trying to guess what goes on in that head

Words now  escape me, just petting of flesh

Please no more suffering, It’s now for the best

A pause then came over and never regained

Knowing his soul has just been reclaimed

In that one brief moment you are one in the same

Both frozen, mouth open, end of the game

A blubbering tremor, uncontrollable shake

Wondering why it’s the best ones you take

Falling down

image

London Bridge is falling down

Just as well could be us, our loved ones, our town

In a crowded room distracted, enchanted

Do we sometimes take our safety for granted

What seems removed and so far away

Is over our shoulder, the intended prey

Parallel soaring to heaven then dust

The apple is poisoned by radical lust

Romance set aside in the city of love

What’s left of the world we all once dreamed of

Distant the vessel for a long Sunday drive

Iron death in a market where no one can hide

Rainbows are tattered, who knows what compels

Only crime they committed was being themselves

Hundreds are kneeling to hope and to pray

Not knowing this prayer is the last they will say

London Bridge is falling down

Wherever the loss, we all fall down.

Moving on

image

We’ve all had that feeling, there but unspoken

No desire to train when your heart has been broken

Pick up the weights, stare in the mirror

Head is a mess, no sign of it clearer

A song or an image reminds what you’ve lost

Sadly, you must now reap the cost

Breathe deep and focus, you know who you are

No thanks to them, you made it this far

Pick up your bag and get back to the gym

Somehow it helps fight the battle within

Don’t ever let someone diminish your health

You’re better than that, time to think of yourself

Life happens sometimes, and you wish you were dead

Just train that much harder, force it out of your head

Rid that pit from your gut and go dry your eyes

The next fish in the sea will soon be your surprise

My mirror

image

Perfectly angled arm flexed in the air

Hand on your hip, a smirk and a stare

No angle for me, dead center I stand

Furious sadness, is this what was planned

Bent over the sink, it’s only a shell

Sigh, “you can do this”, my eyes start to well

Plastered on smile hides all the hurt

While the sweat of just being sticks to my shirt

Temporary reflection is me just for now

You’ll soon be a stranger, my promise, my vow

My battle’s still raging, a ruthless attack

Will fight like a warrior to get my life back
